Scrapbooking Paper Christmas Tree

This is a simple and expensive item that you can use as gifts this Christmas season.

You’ll need….

1 styrofoam or floral foam cone

2 12×12 pieces of scrapbooking paper cut into 1/2″ x 4″ strips. I used 4 sheets different sheets to give more variety and it made a total of 2 trees. I used Echo Park Paper.

flat head push pins (about 140)

ribbon

hot glue gun and glue

scissors

buttons

iRock tool

rhinestone

Directions:

Cut the scrapbooking paper into 1/2″ x 4″ strips.  I suggest using coordinating double sided paper. For this project I used paper from the Echo Park Paper Co Holly Jolly Collection Kit and the Dots & Strips Holiday Collection Kit.

I used the floral foam cone for the project, I liked the fact that it was green and would hide any exposed areas better than the bright white of the styrofoam.

Take one paper strip and bend it in half without creasing it, leaving it bubbled at the bottom. The stick a straight pin through the top of the paper.

Next insert the pin into the floral bottom about an inch from the base.

Continue pinning the strips of paper alternating colors/sides. I mixed it up and didn’t go in a specific order.

With each new row start about 1″ from where you pinned the previous row.  It really just depends on how much room you want between rows, you just need to make sure it’s enough to cover the pins.

Continue adding rows to the very top of the cone.

Around the top for this one I layered 3 different types of ribbon. Play with it and see what you like best.

Cut the ribbon about 5″ and hot glue in around the top edge of the cone covering the last row of pins.

I used 5 buttons of various colors and sizes and stacked them with hot glue to make the tree top.

To finish off the tree top I added a clear rhinestone with my iRock Tool.

Then hot glue the stacked buttons to the top of the cone.

Santa Suit Card

This is a really simple Santa suit card I made this week.

Directions:

Cut a piece of red card stock to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″.

Score put score marks at 2 1/8″ on each side of the card and fold.

Cut 2 pieces of white card stock 5 1/2″ x 1″.

Tear down one side of each piece of the white card stock to give it the fur like look for the Santa suit.

I used the frosted lace stickles and spread it all over the white card stock.

With grey card stock I used my gypsy and cut a 2 1/2″ square with another 1 1/4″ square inside of it to get the belt buckle look.  You could also use square punches or just cut a 2 1/2″ square and place a place black 1 1/4″ square on top of it to give it the same look.   Then I took the silver stickles and spread it over the buckle to give it some shine.  I think it really makes it pop. :)

Cut a piece of black card stock 1 1/4″ x 11″.

Glue the 2 pieces of white card stock on each side of the card flaps to give it the Santa coat look.

Wrap the black strip of card stock around the card to make the belt and then glue the grey card stock in place over the black belt to secure everything together.

The belt then slides off the card to open the card.

For the Ho Ho Ho I used My Pink Stampers Christmas Wishes stamp set.

I hope you enjoy this fun and easy card this Christmas.
